Mike Shinoda Channels Linkin Park On New Track “Already Over”

Mike Shinoda have kicked off a new solo era with the release of his track “Already Over“. Mike has been one of the busiest and most forward-thinking artists in the alternative sphere over the last few years. From his Dropped Frames project in 2020, which featured songs created live on his Twitch stream, to his addition to the Scream 6 soundtrack in the form of “In My Head“, he has gone to the ends of the Earth to create art that feels vital and special. He signalled the start of a new chapter in his story with the reveal of his sharp new trim on his socials. Now we know it was leading towards this new track.

Already Over” is a big return to Mike’s rock roots. With infectious melodies, a chorus that clings to the ear and plenty of pit-spinning intensity, it’s the sound of an artist representing his past, present and future. It feels fresh but familiar. A song that has been with you for years despite you only hearing it now for the first time. There’s indie sensibility, rock aggression and pop playability all wrapped up into one wonderful 162-second burst. Oh, and if you feel like there’s a streak of Linkin Park in there, there’s a good reason for that.

Mike had this to say about the song and where it stemmed from:

“‘ALREADY OVER’ came to me as I was sitting with my favorite guitar in my hands—the same guitar I used on songs from ‘What I’ve Done’ to ‘In My Head.’ There was a familiar DNA to the song that I think Linkin Park fans will recognize. For me, it creates a bridge from the past to a blurry but exciting future.”
