Following their departure from FEVER 333 in 2022, guitarist Stephen Harrison and drummer Aric Improta are back to share their new project, House Of Protection. “It’s Supposed To Hurt” marks their debut and is produced by ex-Bring Me The Horizon‘s Jordan Fish.

The stellar duo are now signed to Red Bull Records. Initially, they dropped their first (literally) fiery teaser on April 22 and rapidly gained thousands of Instagram followers.

On “It’s Supposed To Hurt,” both Improta and Harrison show off their vocal prowess. They offer a unique mix of grungey, dissonant verses and yearning screams in the chorus. House Of Protection will certainly draw your attention with their pulsing punk and hardcore tinged with upbeat electronic riffs. It’s a striking blend that demands to be heard.

“We knew it wasn’t going to be easy to start again from scratch but that phrase [”It’s Supposed To Hurt”] became our ethos. Starting again was the whole point of this,” Improta says of the track name.

“It’s Supposed To Hurt’ was the first song we wrote. Some of the vocals were from our initial improvisations” the band says. “When we started this, we had no idea how we would sound or where we wanted to take it. Neither of us had sung before, we just knew the energy we wanted to create sonically and that we’d put in whatever time it took to get it to feel right. Fortunately, this song answered a lot of those questions instantly.”

Improta, known for his work in Night Verses, details how he and Harrison made the new band name. “‘Protection’ was specifically chosen because it’s a Massive Attack song and I was reading their biography as we started this project,” he says. “It was very inspiring when it came to us initiating this whole thing. The full name is because we wanted to build something that protected our creativity and ideas as well as the people that come to the shows.”

Harrison, formerly of The Chariot, notes, “We wanted to create something where all our ideas, no matter how wild, felt safe.”

Needless to say, this is a thrilling debut. Fans are welcoming the project with open arms and ready to make themselves cozy in the new house.
